ST.THOMAS COLLEGE OF NURSING, CHETHIPUZHA

The Archdiocese of Changanacherry, with 125 years of history, is a pioneer agency in the educational sector of Kerala. To promote education in nursing, the Archdiocese established a College of Nursing, at Chethipuzha in the year 2002, under the Archdiocesan Educational and Charitable Trust.  His Grace Mar Joseph Powathil, the then Archbishop of Changanacherry, founder of the institution named it after St. Thomas, the apostle of India.

St. Thomas College of Nursing is a unit of “The Educational Institutions of Archdiocese Changanacherry”. It is open, like all other Educational Institutions under Catholic auspices, to all persons irrespective of religion, caste or community.

St. Thomas College of Nursing, Chethipuzha was recognized by the Indian Nursing Council vide Order No: 18-16/2833 dated 22/12/2005. Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council, vide Order No: 45282/02/NC and is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHAS).

The College of Nursing started functioning in September 2002, with 50 admissions to B.Sc. Nursing. The full-fledged college building was inaugurated in Chethipuzha campus on 06/01/2004 by His Beatitude Ignatius Cardinal Mooza Davood, Perfect of the Congregation for Oriental Churches and was blessed by His Grace Mar Joseph Powathil. The newly built hostel for girls was blessed by His Grace Mar Joseph Powathil, on 14th August 2005 and named after St. Alphonsa. In 2012, the decennial year of the college, Post Graduate Nursing programme was sanctioned.  The first in-take of students of M.Sc. Nursing (Medical & Surgical) joined on 1st October 2012.  This course is held under affiliation of the Kerala University of Health Sciences and with the recognition of INC and KNMC.

COURSES OFFERED:

PG Course: M.Sc. Nursing (Medical Surgical Nursing) Eligibility – B.Sc. Nursing College has been running this course since 2012. Our students have  successfully completed the course and well placed in India and abroad.

Degree Course: BSc. Nursing Eligibility: +2 SCIENCE The selection of students for B.Sc. Nursing is through Government and    AMSFNCK.  50 students are admitted in B.Sc. Nursing Programme. Admissions are given on inter-se Merit basis.
