Dr. Vijay Varghese completed his MBBS from Govt. Medical College Kottayam and MS in general surgery from Govt. Medical College Trivandrum. Then he went on to complete his fellowship as well as diploma in Minimal access surgery along with basic training in Robotic Surgery training at World Laparoscopy Hospital, Delhi under Dr.R.K.Mishra. He is also certified in Upper GI endoscopy and laser surgery. He has then completed his fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery of colon and rectum (FALS-Colorectal) from GEM Hospital Chennai under Dr.C.Palanivelu.

During his 6.5 years of being a General Surgeon, he has worked 5.5yrs in government sector. In Govt. service he was able to revolutionize Laparoscopic surgery in Pathanamthitta District while working at MCCM Taluk Hospital, Ranni. He performed first time Laparoscopic hernia and colon surgery in the district in Govt. sector, first to do LASER proctology in the District, first to take up endoscopic treatment for varicose veins in Kerala Health Service and so on.

After leaving government service he joined MUM Hospital, Monippally, where he was instrumental in setting up San Guiseppe Centre for minimal access surgery, he has also helped to initiate and develop Laparoscopic surgery in various other hospitals in and around Kottayam, as visiting consultant minimal access surgeon.

He is also passionate in treatment of chronic wounds, diabetic foot ulcers and podiatry. Starting up his own wound care clinic at Jeevan Diabetic and Research Centre, Ettumannoor, he is helping many patients in prevention of foot ulcer as well as in early healing since the past 1 year.
